Montessori

Our Montessori runs from 9.30am to 12.30pm and 1.30pm to 4.30pm Monday to Friday.

We follow a structured weekly time table which encourages children to work independently at their own pace.  The curriculum time table is repeated week in and week out. The activities within each structure of the curriculum changes on a daily basis. Nappy changing facilities are available in both classes.

• Introduction to colours in English and Irish
• Introduction to Phonics.
• Pugwash Bay works with Letter land.
• Writing skills. Basic to intermediate.
• All our children enjoy extensive planned arts and craft sessions.
• Planned and prepared before lesson starts.
• We very much encourage drama and role play, Imaginary play and make belief. Our children are read stories and are encouraged to act out the tale.
• All our facilities have a large outdoor play area, as much as possible we encourage outdoor play.
• Tables and chairs are taken outside and curriculum activities are continued in the fresh air in warm weather.

Monthly reports
Each child is furnished with a monthly progress report written by their teacher. The report covers all the work completed in the previous month.

Children's work
All arts and crafts are displayed in the classroom for the month. The arts and crafts will reflect the monthly theme. All writing skills and colouring pages are sent home in a folder. The folder is then returned to school for the following monthly work.

Montessori Timetable
Our Montessori runs from September to June. All our Montessori teachers are fully qualified with a recognised and established college Diploma. All our staff are vetted for Garda clearance.
